Challenge

A US-based NGO dedicated to behavioral-sciences research and evidence-based mental health care, serving over 15,000 patients, had a software ecosystem that had accumulated performance and security problems over years of growth. The suite covered a patient mobile app, a clinician web app, an admin panel, and assessment tools, but instability and maintainability issues were putting sensitive patient data and years of accumulated research at risk. The organization needed a safer, faster, more maintainable platform without losing its historical data.

Solution

We began with a full audit of the NGO's software ecosystem, then refactored and partly rebuilt the suite to resolve the underlying performance and security issues. The patient-facing mobile app was built with React Native and the clinician web app and admin panel with React.js, backed by a Python service layer and a PostgreSQL database hosted on AWS cloud infrastructure. Throughout the work we preserved years of research data, hardened security, improved stability, and added new assessment and reporting capabilities.

Results

The revamped suite is now more stable, more secure, and considerably easier to maintain across the patient app, clinician web app, admin panel, and assessment tools. Years of valuable behavioral-sciences research data were fully preserved through the migration, and new assessment and reporting features were introduced. The NGO can continue serving its 15,000-plus patients on a platform that better protects sensitive information and supports ongoing care and research.
