
Refactoring and Continuous Evolution of Mental Health Software for a Nonprofit
Challenge
A US-based independent nonprofit focused on mental health disorders, staffed by psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and speech therapists, had produced a large body of clinical research along with a suite of mental-health software used by its clinicians and partner institutions. Over time the suite accumulated faulty modules, architectural weaknesses, and an aging user interface that undermined reliability and performance. The nonprofit needed the software refactored and continuously improved without disrupting the clinical work and research data that depended on it.

Building on an earlier audit, we refactored, rearchitected, and continuously evolved the nonprofit's mental-health software suite rather than replacing it outright. The team rebuilt faulty modules, hardened the overall architecture on AWS, modernized the user interface, and added new assessment and reporting features. The stack combined a Python back end with a React.js web front end and React Native mobile app, so improvements could be delivered steadily while preserving existing clinical data and workflows.
