Challenge

A growing e-commerce business needed to scale its operations without rebuilding its core platform. Key workflows — including carrier service integration, inventory restocking, and order management — were largely manual, creating bottlenecks that slowed the team down and increased reliance on external contractors.

The client needed modular, pluggable services that could extend their existing system's capabilities without disrupting what was already working. The goal was cleaner operations, less manual intervention, and a better end experience for their customers across product discovery, checkout, and delivery.

Solution

8Seneca built a standalone system around a Kubernetes-based infrastructure paired with a full CI/CD pipeline using Jenkins, Gitea, and ArgoCD. On top of that foundation, the team developed a suite of modular microservices, each targeting a specific workflow gap.

The services included automatic restocking triggered by stock level thresholds, invoice and credit note automation via PDF data extraction, product aggregation that merged duplicates from multiple sources and auto-translated content using open-source tools, and programmatically generated SEO landing pages to improve organic discoverability.

Additional modules covered parcel carrier integration with real-time pricing and tracking, an AI chatbot for product assistance, and real-time localization to support multi-language markets.

Every service was designed to deploy independently and integrate directly into the client's existing platform, with no major restructuring required.

Results

The microservices suite delivered measurable impact across the client's entire operation. Hundreds of hours of manual work were eliminated, reducing the team's dependence on external contractors. Development costs dropped through the use of open-source tools and reusable components. Conversion rates improved thanks to better product discoverability and a smoother user experience. Internal decision-making became faster with automated data extraction giving the team cleaner, consolidated information.
