FreeKick

Soccer has always been the top sport in Europe, making the soccer inspired gaming market very competitive. Our goal was to design a develop a mobile app for an upcoming championship to monetize the hype.

Our team had a complete creative freedom over the project. Making a regular PvP game with player controlling both team on the field in real time would bring nothing new to the table. On the other hand, creating a fantasy game would involve time consuming IP related legal procedures. So we decided to focus on competitive free kick mechanics. Player A has five attempts to score while player B controls a goalkeeper of the opposing team. Then both switch their roles. We used locomotion captured moves performed by soccer pros to make game animations realistic. On top of that we added a character customizer and a levelling system.

The FreeKick series can boast of a several million downloads. Also, one of the games was at the top of Google Play apps during a couple of international soccer tournaments.
