Challenge

It was obvious from the start that a different portal was required to satisfy the particular requirements of DEMDACO's wholesale clients after the company first collaborated with Codal to optimize and manage its eCommerce website. B2B customers were able to place orders on DEMDACO's one eCommerce site, but they were unable to track shipments, pay invoices, or keep track of their orders. Consequently, this information was being followed up on by wholesalers with DEMDACO representatives outside of the eCommerce site, which led to a lot of manual customer support work and an unpleasant shopping experience for customers.

Solution

The initial designs and documentation for the B2B portal were provided by DEMDACO; Codal was tasked with implementing the application. Because of the breadth and depth of our engineering team's knowledge and experience, we were able to work with PHP, HTML, Node.js, and BigCommerce's design framework, Stencil, with great confidence. Throughout the entire development process, DEMDACO and Codal worked as true partners. While our team provided technical consulting, code improvements, and successful implementation—which was especially important when integrating the new B2B portal with DEMDACO's intricate ERP system—the client's internal IT team supplied APIs.

Results

Easily accessed from its main eCommerce site, DEMDACO's B2B client portal provides a UX and UI designed with wholesale clients in mind. For wholesale buyers, the portal serves as a central hub for order tracking, shipment tracking, and account balance reviews. Through the portal, clients can add credits to their payments and pay invoices. In addition, features like the ability to search for items by SKU and a "quick-order" function for easy and quick reordering are included in the B2B portal for high-volume and frequent ordering. Additionally, the portal offers B2B users customized content such as retailer success kits, buying guides, and pertinent contact details for territory managers.
