Challenge

HVISK sells bags, jewelry, and accessories across multiple European markets. Their previous platform struggled with traffic volumes during campaigns. International fulfillment created logistics headaches that consumed staff time. Brand presentation varied inconsistently across different markets.
The brief demanded a platform supporting continued growth. Multi-currency and multi-language capabilities came standard. Integration with existing warehouse management was non-negotiable. Performance had to remain stable regardless of traffic spikes — no excuses.

Solution

We built a market-aware international commerce architecture that adapts the entire shopping experience based on visitor location. Currency displays correctly, shipping options match available carriers, and payment methods include local preferences. Tax compliance automation handles VAT calculations accurately, with different rates applying by product category and destination. The system generates proper customs documentation, eliminating manual intervention for international orders.

Key framework components: automatic currency conversion with daily rate updates, translated content management across all market languages, localized payment options including regional favorites, carrier selection based on destination country, and duty/tax estimation shown before checkout. Adding new markets requires configuration, not development work.

For visual identity, we translated HVISK’s design language into functional ecommerce patterns while preserving artistic integrity. We helped establish product photography guidelines with consistent lighting for cohesive collection pages and appropriate lifestyle imagery. Typography uses custom brand fonts throughout with clear heading hierarchies and readable body text at all screen sizes.

For performance, we implemented aggressive caching strategies: static content distribution via global networks, dynamic element isolation, database query optimization for read-heavy traffic, load balancing across multiple server instances, and failover protocols that activate before primary systems degrade.

For wholesale, we built a portal giving stockists access to ordering and inventory data – they place orders, track shipments, and manage accounts independently. EDI connections automate order flow with larger partners: purchase orders arrive electronically, inventory updates transmit automatically, invoicing without manual entry. Drop-shipping arrangements route orders from select retailers directly to HVISK warehouses for fulfillment. Ongoing development includes virtual try-on for sunglasses and sustainability content integration.

Results

International orders now just work – no manual intervention required. The infrastructure supports efficient expansion into new markets, with only configuration needed per country.

The visual implementation feels distinctly HVISK while performing well technically. Consistent photography and typography create a cohesive, on-brand experience across all pages.

Load testing validated performance before launch. We simulated traffic ten times normal levels, and response times stayed acceptable throughout. Real-world campaigns – including product launches, influencer posts, and sale events – confirmed the architecture handles dramatic traffic spikes without degrading the customer experience. The platform absorbs peak loads seamlessly.

The wholesale and partner integration reduces errors and processing costs through automation. Retail partners manage orders, shipments, and accounts independently. EDI connections eliminate manual data entry for larger partners. Drop-shipping arrangements create a seamless customer experience regardless of sales channel – orders route automatically from retailers’ sales to HVISK warehouses for fulfillment. This automation supports ongoing growth, with recent additions including virtual try-on for sunglasses and sustainability content integration.
