Challenge

The client produces frequent live showcases involving complex audio requirements, including backing tracks, sound effects (SFX), and voice-overs. Previously, the production team relied on generic media players and standard file systems to run shows. This led to:

The client needed a bespoke macOS solution to professionalize their audio control booth and ensure flawless live performances.

 

Solution

We developed a native macOS application designed specifically for the high-pressure environment of a theater control booth.

Key Functional Modules:

  • Smart Audio Dashboard: A grid and list-based layout that allows the operator to visualize all necessary sound assets at a glance, eliminating the need to search through folders.
  • Audio Chaining: A feature allowing the producer to link multiple tracks together. This automation means that once a dance track finishes, the subsequent sound effect or transition music plays automatically, reducing manual clicks.
  • Advanced Visual Feedback: Implementation of visual waveforms using real-time audio analysis. This allows the operator to "see" the sound, making it easier to time cues and identify silent portions of tracks.
  • Custom Sound Settings: Granular control over volume, pitch, and playback behavior for individual clips, saved directly within the app workspace.
