Challenge
The primary goal of this project was to create a digital logging mobile application that connected with the VF Bolts SPC4 406a analog handheld meter. The application would need to manage multiple company profiles, be able to create and manage various equipment configurations, connect via bluetooth to handheld meters and collect data readings for each configuration, and generate/store reports for each tests that was conducted and logged.
Company Management
The application would need to be able to manage multiple companies without any user login features and access levels for access to various sections.
Equipment Configuration
The application would need to give the user of each company the ability to create and manage unique equipment configurations. Each company could have multiple equipment configurations for various and each configuration could change over time and need to be managed in the app accordingly.
Log Tests / Data Collection
The app would need to connect to the SPC4 406a handheld analog meter and log and store each reading digitally. The data collection feature needed to be able to guide the user through their tests to ensure they did not miss any bolts and also be flexible enough to let the user test each bolt in no particular order. The app also needed to let the user resume any unfinished testing that were partially completed.
Reporting
The application needed to manage the reports of all completed tests. Various formats would be required (summary, data, graphical, and notes taken) and and give the user the ability to export such reports for distribution purposes.

This new mobile application powered by VF Bolts and Manufacturing Co. was designed and developed by Dot Com Development (for VF Bolts) to connect with their SPC4™ 406A handheld meter via Bluetooth.
Available on Phone and tablet, the mobile application receives and logs the tension data measured by the hand-held meter in real time as each bolt/joint is tested one by one. Once all bolts/joints are tested for the configuration, the logged data will be saved to the application/device locally and various table and chart reports will be able to be viewed digitally via the application.
The application supports company management, contractor management (add/edit/delete), the ability to manage mill configurations, log test results and a history of the test results that can either be pulled up and reviewed as needed, exported to a CSV file, and/or deleted altogether.
