Canadian Down & Feather is a Toronto-based bedding manufacturer with an established customer base across Canada, the United States, and Mexico. As their operations scaled internationally, their existing ecommerce setup was no longer equipped to handle the complexity of multi-market selling, large product variations, or the kind of performance required at scale.
The core challenge was building a Shopify Plus store capable of supporting the company's size, international footprint, and operational complexity — not just as a storefront, but as a scalable business platform. Specific challenges included managing large product variations across sizes, fill types, and warmth levels without overwhelming customers; supporting cross-border sales into the US and Mexico alongside the Canadian market; maintaining fast and consistent site performance as catalog size and traffic grow; implementing multilingual (English and French) and multi-currency (CAD, USD, AUD, MXN) functionality as a seamlessly integrated experience; and designing a system flexible enough to support operational complexity without becoming difficult for the team to manage day-to-day.

A responsive, mobile-first design was implemented to ensure a consistent experience across all markets. Multilingual and multi-currency functionality were built into the core architecture rather than added as an afterthought, ensuring performance and maintainability remained intact. AI-assisted search tools and marketing automation workflows were integrated to improve product discovery and internal efficiency. The overall Shopify Plus setup was designed to remain clean and scalable — structured so that adding new markets, products, or languages in the future does not require rearchitecting the platform.
