The customer is a US-based healthcare startup focused on fully personalized remote physiotherapy. To address the drawbacks of the traditional physical rehabilitation process, its founders set out to build a digital platform for physiotherapy exercises and progress tracking that combines the best of offline and online care: the therapist first assesses the patient in person, then provides continuous online feedback and makes performance-based adjustments to the therapy program. INNERLUXES assembled a team of a project manager, a business analyst, a regulatory compliance consultant, a UX/UI designer, two Xamarin developers, two front-end developers, four back-end developers and a QA engineer. After market, competitor and patient research, it elicited requirements, prioritized features and designed a HIPAA-compliant architecture. The MVP was built with AngularJS and Node.js for the platform and therapist/admin web app, Xamarin for the cross-platform patient mobile app, Amazon EC2 for the back end and web app, and Amazon S3 for exercise videos and images, with data encrypted locally and on AWS and transferred over SSL. The platform uses Xsens DOT wearable sensors to measure joint range of motion; rather than relying on default motion-capture algorithms, INNERLUXES developed proprietary algorithms tailored to knee-joint and lower-back mobility to improve accuracy, comparing readings against previous data and therapist targets. It also stabilized data streaming and resolved patient-orientation measurement issues, and added personalized therapy plans, exercise video instructions, progress reports, in-app messaging and educational content.
