Challenge

Summary

INNERLUXES designed and built a modern, automated underwriting platform for a large global aviation insurer, replacing a 20-year-old legacy system. The new solution centralizes risk scoring, insurance pricing, policy management, and fraud controls, and integrates with the insurer's CRM, finance, compliance, and BI systems — all delivered with minimal disruption to daily operations.

About the Client

The Client is a large global insurance carrier offering a wide range of general and industry-specific commercial insurance lines, with a significant aviation insurance business and underwriting teams operating across many countries.

The Challenge

The Client's two-decade-old underwriting tool — relied on by underwriters, policy administrators, and external brokers worldwide — could no longer support increasingly complex workflows or deliver a smooth user experience. It offered no centralized view or full traceability of risk rating, pricing, and policy servicing, and that opacity increased the risk of underwriting fraud and non-compliance, exposing the business to potential revenue loss and legal penalties. Lacking in-house project management, business analysis, and the relevant engineering skills, the Client needed a partner to design and deliver the replacement end to end.

Solution

Our Approach

INNERLUXES started with business analysis and requirements engineering, producing a clear solution concept: a detailed feature set, an optimal architecture, a plan of integrations and data flows, and UX/UI mockups. This grounded accurate project planning and feature prioritization.

The Team

We provided a dedicated team — a project manager, a business analyst, a software architect, one front-end, one full-stack and three back-end developers, and two QA specialists — covering coding, quality assurance, and data migration from the legacy tool. The team also built integrations with the Client's back-office systems, including Salesforce CRM, financial software, a compliance auditing system, and a BI tool.

Key Functionality

Data intake with real-time aggregation of applications from the CRM; underwriter task management with configurable dashboards and performance monitoring; automated risk scoring and rule-based premium calculation with on-demand actuarial model changes and automated quote generation; policy management with customizable templates, collaborative editing, rule-based renewal, and centralized storage; end-to-end underwriting control with drill-down dashboards and full traceability; broker functionality for quotes and applications; and robust security — multi-factor authentication, role-based permissions, comprehensive audit logs, automated fraud detection, and geography-based KYC/AML and OFAC verification.

Results

Outcomes

The Client received a powerful, user-friendly platform that enables robust automation and full visibility across underwriting workflows. Working closely with stakeholders, INNERLUXES provided proactive problem-solving throughout and launched the software with minimal disruption to business processes.

Business Impact

Improved employee productivity across underwriting workflows; reduced risk of underwriting fraud and non-compliance through full traceability and automated controls; lower software maintenance costs thanks to a modern technology stack; and a single core platform that centralizes all aviation insurance data and delivers complete insight into company-wide underwriting operations.

Looking Ahead

The success of the automated underwriting system encouraged the Client to begin an all-around digital transformation of its business and to explore further cooperation on similar solutions for its subsidiary. Technologies used included .NET, Angular, C#, Microsoft SQL Server, and Azure DevOps Server.
