Capitalise: From Slow to Fast, Scalable & Flexible: Custom Headless Website for a Financial Company

Background

Capitalise is a UK-based fintech platform that helps small businesses access finance and manage financial health, in part through relationships with financial institutions. Their existing website, built on an outdated Pimcore setup, struggled with content updates, editorial complexity, and performance bottlenecks. The old system hindered migration, SEO, and content agility.

Key objectives were:

• Migrate from legacy Pimcore to a modern headless architecture
• Empower non-technical content editors with a visual, block-based CMS
• Achieve high performance (fast FCP, LCP, excellent Lighthouse scores)
• Enable data-driven experimentation via A/B and multivariate testing capabilities

Effects

We replatformed their site using Next.js for the frontend and Storyblok as the headless CMS. The new CMS gives editors intuitive drag-and-drop block editing, live previews, and reusable modules. To ensure performance, we optimized rendering, leveraged Azure Front Door, and refined asset delivery, producing significantly faster load times. We integrated a robust A/B testing framework (PostHog) to allow Capitalise to continuously test content and layout variations. The result: a scalable, flexible platform that boosts editorial efficiency, improves user experience, and supports growth through data-driven optimization.
