Manual surgical counting in the OR relies on tally sheets, boards, and verbal updates, making it error-prone, hard to audit, and risky for patient safety. OptiCounts needed to build a privacy-first digital solution that could mirror existing workflows end-to-end and work offline.

Solution
We built a tablet app and shared display board that digitize the entire counting lifecycle from pre-op setup to final verification. The system provides live, shared counts for the whole OR team, balance alerts when numbers don’t reconcile, and an internal admin panel for managing clinic access and usage. All case data is anonymized at entry, with every action logged for a complete audit trail.

In 3 months, OptiCounts went from concept to a deployment-ready MVP used in operating rooms. The platform reduces ambiguity, improves coordination between nurses, techs, and surgeons, and gives hospitals a transparent, digital record of every count.
