1ev.app - mobile app for streamlining EV charging
Challenge
The growing adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) has introduced new challenges for drivers, particularly when it comes to managing multiple charging station apps from various operators. EV drivers often had to use separate apps for different chargers, which was inconvenient and time-consuming. The challenge for our client, PlugPay, was to create a unified solution that would allow EV drivers to find and pay for charging sessions from various manufacturers without needing to switch between multiple apps. The app needed to integrate various charging stations, provide real-time charging status, offer payment capabilities, and generate invoices—all from a single platform.
The client also faced the issue of ensuring broad compatibility with multiple charger brands and implementing an intuitive and seamless user experience. Another key challenge was developing a backend that could efficiently handle the payment system, transaction tracking, and integration with the German Hub to unify disparate charging stations.

Solution
Qarbon IT was brought in to transform the client's vision into a user-friendly application that simplified the EV charging process. The first step was conducting a digital product workshop to clearly define the project scope, establish the technology stack, and brainstorm the solution's features.
We developed an MVP of the 1ev.app, which provides a single platform for EV drivers to locate charging stations, track their charging status, and make payments. The app integrates with Google Maps for easy search and navigation, and also supports various charging station brands for broader compatibility.
Key features included:
Charger List: Users can search and view charging stations on a map, selecting the most suitable one and reviewing charging details before starting the session.
Search&Charge: With integrated GPS, users can find the nearest charger based on their location, allowing for quick and easy access to charging stations.
Charging Status & Cost: The app notifies users of the current charging status and provides real-time information on the associated costs.
Automated Payments & Invoice Generation: After a charging session, the app automatically generates a payment and invoice, streamlining the transaction process for users.
The integration with the German Hub allowed the app to manage multiple charging stations in one platform, consolidating separate applications into a single, unified solution. Additionally, an Admin Control Panel was created to send notifications and gather comprehensive data on charging activity, locations, and transactions.
