Challenge

Our collaboration with an industry-leading Japanese development company led us to embark on an ambitious project: creating a cutting-edge real-time screen translation app powered by AI. The app's objective was to read and translate all onscreen text in the user's preferred language, maintaining the original context with utmost accuracy. Equipped with a clear vision, the client sought our expertise to transform their idea into a reality. Our objective was to develop a cross-platform (MacOS and Windows) desktop app that provided onscreen translation while preserving the context of the original text. By seamlessly translating the text back to its original position on the screen in the user's preferred language, we aimed to enable effortless multilingual communication.

The result was a fully functional cross-platform desktop app, complete with a corresponding backend, empowering users with seamless onscreen translation. The cross-platform nature of our solution allowed for efficient iteration of new designs, features, and change requests, significantly saving time and resources compared to traditional development approaches. Furthermore, the shared codebase across platforms facilitated easier maintenance, reducing costs for the client. While most of the codebase remained consistent between Mac and Windows versions, platform-specific logic required native implementation, which was executed seamlessly.
