Challenge

The Client’s original platform was built using Clojure, a functional programming language known for its flexibility but with limited mainstream adoption. Over time, the internal team encountered several challenges:

  1. Complex system logic: Understanding the system's logic was difficult, especially for new team members, due to the Clojure’s complexity and the legacy codebase.
  2. The limited talent pool made it challenging to scale the development team or onboard new developers efficiently.
  3. High maintenance costs resulted from the need for specialized expertise and the time-consuming nature of working with the old system.

These issues slowed down development, hindered innovation, and made it clear that a more modern, scalable solution was needed.

Solution

To help the client transition to a modern, efficient, and secure infrastructure, SotaTek implemented a fully serverless architecture. The solution was designed to reduce operational complexity, optimize cost, and enhance overall system resilience.

Key components included:

  1. Build the Carbon Offset Flow & Infrastructure: Collaborated with the customer to develop the entire system from scratch.
  2. Load Testing System: Designed and implemented a robust load testing system for performance analysis.
  3. New Monitoring System: Developed a new monitoring system to replace the old one, ensuring better observability and reliability.
  4. Infrastructure Fine-Tuning: Optimized the system infrastructure for efficiency and scalability.
  5. Static IP & Private API Gateway Integration: Implemented a solution for clients requiring static IPs and integration with private API gateways.

Results

As a result of the end-to-end automated testing initiative, the client achieved significantly improved test coverage and reliability across critical user flows, including insurance claims processing and policy package management. The implementation of Automated Quality Assurance (AQA) streamlined the testing process, reduced manual effort, and enabled faster detection of issues before production. This led to enhanced platform stability, improved user experience, and increased confidence in each release cycle.
