Challenge

Neural Trainer, a SportTech company dedicated to enhancing athletic performance through cognitive training, desired to develop a mobile application capable of interfacing with their hardware devices for comprehensive training. They sought to design a system that could effectively connect brain and motor skills for improved sports performance, but faced the challenge of creating an application that could respond with a high rate, maintain a broad connection range, and cater to diverse users, regardless of whether they owned nodes. Furthermore, they aimed to incorporate real-time performance tracking and personalized training creation into the system, necessitating a highly versatile and adaptable tool.

Solution

In partnership with Neural Trainer, ThinkUp developed an iOS and Android mobile application that connects to hardware devices using BLE mesh connection for an optimal response rate and broad training range. We ensured high connection quality and time fidelity using nRF52 devices for each terminal. It can be utilized to view content even without a device connection. The cognitive training system incorporated into the application allows for personalized training across various sports, both individual and collective, and measures athletes' performance in real time. We also included features for designing and developing cognitive training routines, focusing on connecting physical and cerebral skills for optimum performance.

Results

The Neural Trainer mobile application developed by ThinkUp brought substantial benefits to the company and its user base. The system now delivers real-time information on athletes' performance, enabling the creation of personalized training routines. The application has been adopted by renowned sports teams worldwide, including the Uruguayan National soccer team and numerous global soccer teams, confirming its efficacy in improving athletes' reactiveness, mental agility, memory, attention, and information processing speed. This project significantly elevated Neural Trainer's capabilities in enhancing sports performance, rehabilitation, physiotherapy, and neurocognitive therapy, demonstrating the transformative power of technology in the realm of sports.
