Challenge

To design and develop an application that works on both Android and iOS, it had to be intuitive, to be used by people who are not tech savvy. In addition, the challenge was to achieve a balanced language and design between technical terminologies and natural language, since the target user is the veterinarian who is not an expert in parasitology. Another challenge was to convert the knowledge of Vetparasite's veterinary team, experts in the domain, into an intelligent algorithm. The application, through this algorithm, processes the input information to obtain recommendations for decision making about the deworming of the animal troop in question.

Solution

The first thing we did was to introduce ourselves in the veterinary world, to get information about how they talk, how they think and how they relate to technology in this sector, we sketched the ideas on paper, and then we created navigable prototypes in Figma in co-design with the client, we tested them with real veterinary users and validated our idea and interaction flows. Then we developed, on the one hand, an intelligent Javascript module based on the knowledge and recommendation process currently provided by the VetParasite veterinarians team, and on the other hand, an application in Angular + Ionic, serverless, and a user management panel.

Results

In the first 3 days, more than 200 downloads were made, in a niche sector, with more than 3000 samples in the first month. Currently the application is still growing and we are already talking with the client about possible improvements and the development of new functionalities.
