Challenge

F’INE Pasifika Aotearoa Trust, a devoted advocate for the Pasifika community, sought our assistance in elevating their impact through a new logo and branding materials. The challenge was to create a visually striking brand identity with a specific focus on inclusivity, resonating particularly with the Pasifika MVPFAFF / LGBTQI+ community. Our task was to encapsulate the profound values of the organization in a cultural logo design that symbolized a journey of self-discovery and empowerment, aligning closely with the experiences of those seeking support. The challenge involved weaving together layers of meaning and representation, harmonizing the elements of air, fire, water, earth, and heavens in a way that reflected the synergy of nature and life’s interconnectedness.

Solution

Our creative process led to the development of a cultural logo design centered around the iconic symbol of a canoe, or vaka. This symbol represented the voyage of self-discovery and empowerment, incorporating elements like the frigatebird, sun, wavey lines, intricate patterns, and white space to provide a holistic representation of nature’s synergy. To convey inclusivity in LGBTQI branding, we employed nature-inspired colors, creating vibrancy across brand elements. Brand guidelines were established for consistency in future materials, including letterheads, business cards, vehicle signage, presentation templates, trifold brochures, email signatures, and the local charity website design.

Results

The LGBTQI branding initiative resulted in a comprehensive and visually impactful brand transformation for F’INE Pasifika Aotearoa Trust. The cultural logo design, featuring the iconic vaka and its symbolic elements, successfully encapsulated the organization's values of unity, representation, and empowerment. Nature-inspired colors and rounded shapes created vibrancy and aesthetic coherence across diverse brand elements. The brand guidelines provided a framework for consistency, ensuring a unified and recognizable visual identity in future materials. Letterheads, business cards, vehicle signage, presentation templates, trifold brochures, and email signatures were designed with simplicity and clarity in mind, fostering trust and connection.
