The client aimed to build a fintech platform capable of supporting both institutional and advanced retail traders with robust portfolio management capabilities. The key challenge was to design a system that could operate reliably in two distinct modes: real-time live trading and risk-free virtual portfolio simulation. Additionally, the platform needed to integrate seamlessly with multiple external systems, including bank and broker accounts, as well as numerous financial data providers. We designed and developed a modern portfolio management platform built on a microservices architecture using Java, enabling modularity, scalability, and easier maintenance. The system was deployed on cloud infrastructure to support elastic scaling and high availability under fluctuating workloads.
To deliver a responsive and real-time user experience, we implemented a React-based frontend enhanced with WebSocket technology, allowing instant updates of market data, portfolio changes, and trading activity. The platform supports two core modes: a virtual environment for risk-free strategy testing and a live trading mode connected to real financial accounts.
We integrated the platform with 12 financial data providers, ensuring comprehensive and reliable market insights. Secure connections to bank and broker accounts were established, with a strong focus on data protection and compliance with financial regulations.
