Challenge

eDrive Energy, an EV charging operator in Brazil, needed a unified platform to manage a growing network of charging stations from multiple hardware vendors. Without a centralized system, they couldn't monitor charger status in real time, manage pricing, handle driver payments, or guarantee interoperability across station brands. EV drivers also lacked a simple way to find available chargers, start sessions, and pay. The company needed an OCPP-compliant platform that could connect to any standard charger, scale as the network expanded, and deliver a reliable real-time experience for both operators and drivers — essential in a fast-growing EV market where uptime and ease of use drive adoption.

Solution

XongoLab built an IoT-based EV charging management platform for eDrive Energy on the OCPP (Open Charge Point Protocol) standard, so it integrates with charging hardware from any compliant vendor. The platform connects stations to the cloud for real-time monitoring of status, energy usage, and faults. It includes an operator dashboard to manage stations, tariffs, and users, plus a driver app to locate chargers, start and stop sessions, and pay securely. We implemented the IoT communication layer for live charger data, a scalable cloud back end to handle concurrent sessions across the network, and analytics for usage and revenue. The architecture was built for reliability and growth, with remote diagnostics to minimize charger downtime.

Results

eDrive Energy gained a single, OCPP-compliant platform to run its entire charging network regardless of hardware vendor. Operators can now monitor every station in real time, adjust pricing remotely, and resolve issues faster through remote diagnostics — improving charger uptime. Drivers get a smooth experience to find, use, and pay for charging from one app. The platform scales as new stations come online, supporting eDrive's expansion across the Brazilian EV market.
