Artificial Intelligence is the next step in technological evolution, but it might be the next step for humanity. While we've invented AI through years of hard labor, science, and computing development – the fact that AI might reinvent us is far more realistic than you might imagine.

Jobs, tasks, and things that used to take a lot of labor, time, and manual interaction now take seconds due to the current state of AI. If we look at the rate that AI is gaining mass adoption, spread, and sophistication – it's just a matter of time before the whole world becomes automated through knowledge engineering.

In this article, we'll explore one of the most exciting prospects of AI, and that's whether it's able to boost our Intelligence through things such as education.

Does Education Itself Boost Intelligence?

Whether education boosts, Intelligence has been a highly disputed matter in scientific circles. These days, it's generally believed that humans can actively increase their Intelligence through continual and proper education and augment their IQ.

Now, this is not standardized, nor does it apply to everyone. Humans within themselves are a surprisingly diverse bunch, and while some things might work for some people, others might not.

Nevertheless, studies show that through an additional year of education at the right time, people can increase their IQ points by approximately 1 to 5.

This brings another issue to the table: the accuracy and sophistication of the arguably dated IQ system. While IQ is an excellent way to assume someone's Intelligence, it's not definitive nor highly accurate.

To answer whether education boosts Intelligence or not, we're not sure, but it contributes to the cognitive abilities of humans in some way.

The Current State of AI, ML, and Digital Education

Due to the global pandemic, a lot of people are stuck at home. This means that traditional ways of education such as public colleges, forums, and classrooms are out of the picture for the time being. The coronavirus pandemic has created a seismic shift in how education is conducted, and it has ushered in the age of digital education.

Digital education such as online quizzes, studies, and courses have been spreading even before we've shut in due to the pandemic, especially with a range of platforms and software. The pandemic has sped up the mass adoption of these new-age information and education methodologies.

While the adaptation was pretty tricky for some, the many benefits of digital education, such as improved social monitoring, are already becoming apparent. Through online courses, knowledge base, and testing – educators and employers can get better insight into their subordinates through powerful analysis that education and testing platforms allow.

Furthermore, it allows education specialists to create specific content both for the lesson and the test that fits their subordinates best – and that's where AI steps in.

How AI is used in eLearning

Artificial Intelligence isn't only used for faster information processing, customer service, and streamlining menial tasks. It can actually improve, simplify, and induce a seismic shift into how education works, how it's conducted, and most importantly, what it consists of.

Data and machine learning enable AI. As these two technologies develop, the data delivery will become that much better, meaning AI can actively optimize what kind of information is given to whom and when.

While AI in eLearning is relatively limited on the front end part, AI is already handling a considerable amount of data and processing on the back end.

AI is already being used to streamline captioning, improving connection stability, and visual assistance in the eLearning process, which works wonders for things such as a virtual communication remote team

In some cases, AI is tasked with devising and presenting a significant amount of visual stimuli to the student. Being primarily visual creatures, humans respond well to visual stimulation in education, which means that information retention is more likely to stick if the information is presented in an understandable, bite-sized, and visual manner.

Depending on the online course software at hand, AI might already play a far more prominent role than we're used to.

Keeping in mind that eLearning as a concept itself has just gone out of its infancy and into its 'boom' phase, it's hard to assume how the advent of technologies such as AI, ML, and Big Data will impact it later down the line.

How AI Optimized eLearning Improves Intelligence

Improving your Intelligence through education is still a disputed topic, as mentioned above, but what is definitive is that humans can enhance their cognitive abilities through proper educational stimuli.

Now, humans themselves are great at retaining information, exploring educational methodologies, and applying them to the learning process – but even in its current state, AI has long surpassed us in these traits.

AI optimized eLearning can boost human Intelligence by mirroring the education itself, and it does through in a range of ways, such as:

Personalized educational content

Humans are a very diverse demographic, and all require a different educational approach. Through personalization via AI involvement with a prebuilt knowledge base, the conduction of education becomes far more student-orientated, meaning it's far more likely to pique the student's interest and augment how much information they retain.

Teaching diversification

While personalized educational content is a major player in information retention, it's not just about the information being applied – it's about how the data is being administered. AI can explore through a range of methodologies for distributing information, actively augmenting information retention.

Advising and tutoring

Through proper advising and tutoring, AI can actively organize the data that needs to be presented so the student can learn from it. This is not an exact process, as there are too many variables for even AI to account for, but that is where smart tutoring comes into play. Through AI-enhanced tutoring, the student can learn information in a digestible and practical manner, helping them understand and comprehend the information at hand.

Improved Engagement

Engagement has always been one of the most important things about education. What good is a top-of-the-line program or study if the student isn't interested in the matter or doesn't engage with it? Creating engaging educational content and getting the person to interact with it is challenging, especially if you have to apply this rhetoric to more than one student.

AI works to streamline this and effectively creates as engaging content as possible through analyzing the data it has on every student, maximizing the efficiency of the learning process in its entirety. Of course, it also works to maximize student data security, meaning that there are no leaks or privacy issues for AI-enhanced learning.

Final Thoughts

AI is a technology that is continually evolving. In the olden days of smart chatbots processing vast amounts of data – it’s only a matter of time before our lives become that much better just because AI is a regular part of them.

This includes all aspects of our lives, as well as education. Through AI-enhanced education, it’s fair to assume that the humans of tomorrow are going to be far more intelligent than we ever were.
