Challenge

Ozan is a digital banking app that allows its users to make safe, fee-free transactions in different currencies. Together with the client's internal team, we achieved great things and managed to build a feature-rich payments platform.  The scope included designing a mobile app and flows, performing several maintenance tasks on an existing application, as well as performing upgrades, optimisations, and new feature development.

Solution

Analysis

  • Through stakeholder and competitor research, we identified what features had to be put in place. Different combinations and flows were presented to the business owners. To make sure all features were feasible, technical architects were present throughout the project.
  • New tasks were added to the backlog for monitoring as a result of a GAP analysis.
  • Additional limitations, common user complaints and improvements the stakeholders wanted in place were identified for the mobile app concept.

Development

  • We reduced complexity by removing repetition and thousands of lines of code.
  • We improved maintainability by adding type support, splitting up features and using redux across the board.
  • User stories and personal were created and tested to find the best process with all information while staying user-friendly.
  • Our design team prepared a high-fidelity prototype with improved usability, new features and a fresh look for the mobile app.

Code Quality

  • Code reviews were put in place while real-time updates were provided for the product manager to monitor.
  • QA team constantly monitored and built E2E tests for the project.

Results

  • 15K lines of code removed.
  • 41% increase in build speed.
  • 200% reduction in bundle size.
  • The mobile app concept was delivered in 10 working days.
  • Maintenance costs were significantly reduced. One of the biggest wins was removing a redundant application.
