Challenge

A premium watch retailer operating in the United States needed a reliable internal platform to connect Shopify with its warehouse operations, inventory records, warranty registration, and marketing systems.

Although Shopify managed online sales, several important business functions depended on an aging internal application. Order information had to be reviewed before warehouse release, inventory updates arrived through separate file exchanges, and product and customer information needed to remain consistent across multiple systems.

The previous integration also retained unnecessary customer information in its internal database, increasing the amount of personal data stored outside Shopify. Some webhook endpoints lacked adequate request authentication.

The business required a modern integration platform that could improve operational reliability, reduce unnecessary data retention, strengthen security, and maintain accurate communication between Shopify and external systems.

Solution

Eye4tech developed and improved a custom Shopify-connected operations platform to support product management, warehouse communication, order screening, warranty services, and administrative workflows.

The solution integrates Shopify APIs and webhook events with internal business processes. It synchronizes product catalogue information, manages inventory-related communications, and exchanges order and refund files with the warehouse system.

Eye4tech implemented a structured order screening process using payment confirmation and risk information before orders are released for fulfillment.

Security improvements included authenticated webhook handling, detailed event logging, retry mechanisms, and an encrypted credential vault with audit records.

The team also redesigned how customer information was stored, minimizing locally retained personal data and retrieving additional details only when required.

Results

The updated platform improved security, operational visibility, and data management across the retailer's Shopify-connected systems.

Customer information retained in the internal order database was reduced from 19 columns to seven, limiting unnecessary personal data storage.

All 11 integrated webhook topics were protected with signature verification and logging, improving the ability to authenticate and trace incoming platform events.

Four credential sets were moved from configuration files into an audited credential vault, improving administrative control over sensitive integration access.

The resulting system supports catalogue synchronization, order processing, inventory exchange, warranties, reporting, and other important business operations. It remains in production use with continued development and maintenance.
