In the digital age, accessing and exploring vast cultural heritage content remains difficult and unengaging. Although institutions provide extensive collections, traditional interfaces make it hard for users to navigate. Our customer wanted to create a new visual storytelling tool that caters to various content types, enhancing the user experience by making exploration intuitive and engaging.

Although institutions provide extensive collections, traditional interfaces make it hard for users to navigate. Our customer wanted to create a new visual storytelling tool that caters to various content types, enhancing the user experience by making exploration intuitive and engaging.
Solution
To address these challenges, we conducted thorough UX research to understand the audience’s requirements, designing an optimal architecture with a microservice structure and technology selection based on load forecasts.
Core functionalities:
• API connection to receive content from various publishers (Wellcome Collection, The British Library, Deutsche Fotothek, etc.)
• a smart search system, that can provide relevant search by aggregate parameters
• filters - the possibility of variable sampling by several parameters

Results
The new visual storytelling tool provided users with an improved way to interact with cultural heritage artifacts. The visual interface made it easier to navigate and find information. The smart search and advanced filtering features increased search relevance and user satisfaction. Individual visual perception of images intuitively helps to find the desired results and make unexpected discoveries by enriching the knowledge.
