Challenge
The biggest risks were stability under extreme load, latency, and scaling a weak early codebase into a long-term platform. The product required fast, smooth short-video playback (swipe without lag), then expanded into real-time features: live streams, group video, audio rooms, and interactive mechanics. On top of that, Chingari introduced crypto wallet functionality and an in-app economy, requiring strong security practices, reliable payment flows, and infrastructure that could withstand spikes in concurrent usage and transaction volume.

Solution
Onix refactored the early prototype into a stable codebase, optimized video streaming (CDN behavior and AWS transcoding), and implemented a microservices architecture designed for high load. We built real-time features using WebSockets and integrated streaming via Agora SDK. We also developed a crypto wallet and token functionality (Solana-based), created internal payment flows, and delivered engagement mechanics such as quizzes, challenges, and games. The solution used robust infrastructure components (Docker/Kubernetes, Kafka, Redis, PostgreSQL/MongoDB) and CI/CD to ship safely and iterate quickly.

Results
The platform evolved from a basic prototype to a scalable live streaming ecosystem serving a massive audience. The case highlights growth from roughly 1M downloads at Onix’s start to 100M+ downloads after refactoring, scaling, and feature rollout, plus expanded monetization through gifting, diamonds, crypto, and interactive games. Most importantly, the platform achieved stable and secure performance under extreme load spikes—turning early traction into a sustainable product foundation ready for long-term growth.
