Challenge

NDAX set out to become a crypto exchange that Canadian regulators, banks and everyday users could all trust. Its existing platform wasn't ready for that. It couldn't connect properly with financial institutions or meet local compliance requirements, and buying crypto there didn't feel simple or safe for a first-time user. There was also no real mobile app, so NDAX could only reach people willing to trade from a desktop. On top of that, many people who signed up never finished identity verification, so they never became active traders.

Solution

SpaceDev put together a small dedicated team: two full-stack developers, a project manager, a QA engineer and a UX/UI designer. We rebuilt the web platform in TypeScript and Angular 8, with a Node.js and Express backend and MongoDB, and structured it for a regulated financial environment.

A key part of the work was the integration with AlphaPoint, the exchange engine that connects NDAX to the Canadian banking system. We made sure account data and user activity stayed accurate and in sync at every step of a transaction.

For mobile, we built a native React Native app for iOS and Android. Users can manage their accounts, buy, sell, trade, stake and track earnings from it. We designed every screen in Figma and simplified the flows that handle real money, especially verification.

Results

We delivered the MVP in three months, and the partnership continued with two more years of product development. After the new platform launched, monthly sign-ups went from about 50 to about 200, four times as many. The share of users who completed verification rose from 50% to 80%, so far more registered users became active traders. Together with NDAX's practice of keeping client funds in segregated Canadian bank accounts, the platform gave regulators and users solid reasons to trust it.
