Challenge

Pickles, a leading Norwegian brand in the knitting industry, had an existing website built on Magento 1.9 that could not support their growing online business. The primary challenge was to migrate a complex catalog of products, including knitting patterns, wool, and knitting tools, to a new platform while retaining the brand’s unique online shopping experience. Pickles required a solution that would handle composite and bundle products, maintain an intuitive shopping experience, support future growth, and enable staff to manage products efficiently. Additionally, the website needed to be fast, reliable, and mobile-friendly to match the expectations of knitting enthusiasts and complement in-store offerings.

Solution

StuntCoders built Pickles from the ground up on WordPress, leveraging WooCommerce for e-commerce capabilities. We carefully recreated complex “recipe-type” products and implemented WooCommerce Composite and Bundle products to maintain the unique shopping experience. Custom development ensured flexibility for promotions, bundle configurations, and inventory management. Frontend design focused on intuitive navigation, mobile responsiveness, and fast performance. Backend improvements enabled staff to manage products, orders, and customer interactions efficiently.

We also optimized page load speed through caching, image optimization, and other performance enhancements. Ongoing support and feature development ensure the website continues to evolve with Pickles’ business needs.

Results

The new Pickles website delivered a seamless, fast, and robust shopping experience, both for customers and internal staff. Users can easily explore, select, and purchase knitting patterns, wool, and bundles, resulting in improved engagement and conversion rates. Backend operations became more efficient, with staff able to manage products and orders more effectively.

Page speed optimizations improved overall site performance and user satisfaction. Our ongoing support ensures that pickles.no remains updated, secure, and continuously optimized. The project successfully modernized Pickles’ e-commerce presence, reinforcing its position as a go-to destination for knitting enthusiasts in Norway, and across the world.
