Sursum is the product core of one of the best software studios in Europe, spun off into a leaner, AI-native studio. It’s the same senior team behind 200+ products, now built around how products should be made today.
Our team has spent over a decade building products for startups and business leaders across the US, UK and Europe. Most of the startups our team helped build went on to raise VC funding and were still alive two years later. Most of us have been founders ourselves. We’ve sat on your side of the table, and we work like an extension of your founding team.
We work in phases, and each phase is its own agreement. Discovery comes first: we decide what deserves to be built, with the roadmap and MVP estimation. Then the MVP build delivers a production-ready product, block by block, each one tested and accepted by you on staging. Product scaling follows on whatever model fits: module by module, time & materials, a dedicated team, or help hiring your own team followed by a full knowledge transfer.
AI is at the centre of how every person on the team works. We’ve built our own AI engine around our specialists’ expertise. It runs inside a deterministic harness of explicit rules, constraints and validation, with our experts directing the work and accountable for the result.
We have experience in regulated and complex domains such as fintech, regtech, healthtech and legal.
We choose partnerships carefully. We look for founders with deep industry knowledge who are open to having their thinking challenged. You know your industry, we know products, and we go higher together.

Processes and approach
How do you gather and validate client requirements?
Every engagement starts with a short discovery and scoping phase, before any build commitment. We work with founders to separate the problem from the proposed solution. We challenge assumptions, define the users and the core value, and turn that into a prioritised scope, user flows and a technical approach. We validate requirements against business goals and real user needs rather than a feature list, so the first version ships what matters most.
How do you ensure alignment with client goals and business strategy?
We act as an extension of the founding team, not a vendor taking orders. Product decisions are tied back to the client’s business model, funding stage and next milestone. That milestone can be a launch, a pilot, or a fundraise. Scope is reprioritised openly as we learn, and we’ll push back when a feature doesn’t serve the goal.
Which software development methodologies do you use (e.g., Agile, Waterfall, Scrum)?
Agile, run lean: short iterations, continuous delivery and frequent client feedback. We adapt the ceremonies to the stage and size of the product instead of applying Scrum by the book.
How do you keep clients and stakeholders updated on project progress?
We work transparently, the way an internal team would. Clients have direct access to the people building their product, shared tools and boards, and working builds as they evolve. Weekly touchpoints are mandatory at minimum, with async updates in between.
How frequently do you hold check-in meetings or status updates?
At least weekly, and this isn’t optional. More frequent check-ins happen during critical phases such as kick-off, launch or major releases, plus ongoing async communication in shared channels.
What quality assurance practices do you follow?
QA is built into development. We use code reviews on every change, automated testing on critical flows, staging environments for client validation before release, and acceptance checks against the agreed scope at each iteration.
How do you identify and manage project risks?
We front-load risk. The scoping phase surfaces technical, product and scope risks before the build starts. During delivery, risks are flagged early in weekly touchpoints, scope is reprioritised rather than silently expanded, and the riskiest assumptions are tested first.
What kind of support or maintenance do you offer after delivery?
We never leave a client hanging. The team has run over 100 knowledge-transfer processes, so handovers to in-house teams are structured and complete. After delivery, clients can continue with us on time & materials, fixed-scope phases, or a maintenance fee covering upkeep and small iterations.
