Challenge

Traditional illness tracking relies on slow, incomplete reports, often alerting communities too late to prevent the spread. Sickweather wanted to revolutionize real-time illness tracking by combining social listening, user reports, wearable data, and predictive analytics all in one easy-to-use mobile app to help people protect themselves and their families from outbreaks before they spread.

Solution

The Sickweather app leverages GPS geolocation technology and pushes notifications to alert users in real-time when they enter “sick zones”, which are geofenced areas the client created from the health data theycollect. The data includes the frequency of reported illnesses including strep throat, the flu, whooping cough, and others. Users can contribute their own reports to crowdsource data as well. Technology Rivers was responsible for the entire Android development process. Their internal iOS team had already established a design that we adjusted to suit the Android user interface before starting development.

Results

Sickweather has become the world’s largest illness tracking community, empowering millions to make data-driven health decisions and avoid high-risk areas — just like checking the weather. Predictive analytics and real-time health alerts help individuals and businesses stay ahead of outbreaks, creating a healthier, more informed community.
