Challenge

The client operates a decentralized insurance platform designed to provide risk coverage for Web3 users and projects. The platform relies on smart contracts for policy creation, risk pools, DAO governance, and automated payouts, making the correctness and reliability of its business logic particularly important.

The main QA challenge was validating complex insurance payout logic, smart contract behavior, and oracle integrations. The team needed to verify that coverage rules worked correctly, events were triggered accurately, and transactions remained stable across multiple Web3 integrations and components, including MetaMask, Chainlink, Polygon, and DAO voting mechanisms.

The project also required reliable testing across the API, front end, blockchain functionality, and governance modules while establishing a QA process that could support continuous feature development and releases.

Solution

QA Madness established a comprehensive QA process covering both manual and automated testing of the Web3 insurance platform. Four QA engineers were assigned to the project and worked on the quality assurance process throughout the development lifecycle.

The team developed a QA strategy for core Web3 functionality, including wallet connections, transaction validation, and smart contract interactions. API testing was performed across key modules such as policy management, payout triggers, and oracle feeds. Smart contracts were tested using Hardhat and Foundry, while automated testing was implemented with Postman, Playwright, and Hardhat.

The team also established end-to-end integration testing between the React front end and Node.js microservices, and set up regression and release testing pipelines. Documentation and QA reporting were maintained throughout the engagement. Over 18 months, the team wrote more than 1,200 tests and achieved 95% coverage of business-critical flows.

Results

QA Madness established a QA process from the ground up and integrated it into the client’s development lifecycle. The testing approach provided coverage across the platform’s API, front-end functionality, blockchain components, and DAO governance modules.

The team delivered full regression coverage for the API, front end, and DAO governance functionality. Smoke and regression testing were automated through CI/CD using GitHub Actions, reducing the reliance on repetitive manual checks during releases and supporting continuous quality validation as new features were introduced.

The engagement also resulted in comprehensive testing documentation covering the project and a continuous process for smart contract testing and new feature releases. After more than 18 months of QA support, over 1,200 tests had been created, with 95% coverage achieved for business-critical flows.
