Challenge

Anchor AI needed to establish a structured QA process for its live AI-powered meeting platform. When the QA engineer joined, testing was handled inconsistently by different team members without a dedicated QA specialist or clearly defined workflow. The client therefore needed both QA process setup and ongoing software testing.

Because the application was already live and actively developing, the new QA process had to be introduced without disrupting the existing development workflow. The team needed a practical approach that would improve testing efficiency while fitting the product's ongoing release cycle.

The QA specialist also needed to establish a clear defect-management process, introduce appropriate test coverage and documentation, and ensure that completed functionality was verified before release rather than after deployment. Cross-platform coverage was important as well, with the web application requiring testing across Windows and Mac environments.

Solution

QA Madness assigned a part-time QA engineer who first performed exploratory testing to become familiar with the live product and identify opportunities for improving the existing workflow.

The specialist recommended moving defect tracking to Jira, replacing the separate bug document, and introduced a standardized bug-reporting template to make reports easier for developers to process. The QA engineer also established a clear task flow and recommended testing completed functionality before release. Participation in team meetings enabled the specialist to analyze requirements and provide feedback earlier in the development process.

The QA process included smoke and regression testing, basic test coverage and supporting checklists. Checklists were selected instead of detailed test cases because they provided a more efficient approach within the agreed part-time schedule and could be updated as the application evolved.

Testing covered functional and UI aspects of the web application, compatibility across browsers and platforms on Windows and Mac, retesting after defect fixes, smoke testing after code iterations and releases, and regression testing before deployment.

Results

The QA Madness specialist has submitted more than 180 bug reports, including over 50 critical defects and blockers. The development team began addressing the critical issues, with the testing and improvement process continuing as the platform evolves.

The newly established QA workflow made testing more systematic and proactive. The QA engineer regularly reviews requirements, creates and updates checklists for functionality under development, tests completed features before deployment, and performs post-release smoke testing.

As a result of introducing dedicated QA into the development process, the number of defects reaching production decreased. Critical defects are now identified and fixed before releases, helping improve the stability and reliability of the live meeting platform while maintaining an efficient testing process.
